Twin Cities Area Clothier Receives National Recognition
Twin Cities custom clothier Kingford Bavender received five Design Awards, including "Best of Show" "Most Creative Design" Most Creative Use of Fabric" and two "Best of Category" for the garments he designed and modeled in a national juried fashion show during the 126 th national convention of the Custom Tailors & Designers Association (CTDA) in Las Vegas recently. Bavender is President of Twin City-based Bavender Custom Clothiers.
Bavender's design for the award-winning garments featured three-button, single breasted, vested suits with each entered in one of nine categories during the CTDA's Annual Fashion Show. One suit was created using a worsted cashmere grey plaid with a red windowpane overlay. The other suit was created from a brown birdseye cloth of super 130's quality wool with leather button embellishments and a brown suede vest.
The Annual CTDA Fashion Show is comprised of one-of-a-kind garments, constructed specifically for the event by the custom tailor members of the association from around the World. The Show gives CTDA members the opportunity to illustrate style trends, garment details, construction techniques and the very latest fabrics being used in the custom clothing industry.
The 2006 CTDA Fashion Show included nine categories, ranging from casual styles to evening attire. A panel of independent judges -- all highly respected and accomplished members of the custom clothing industry -- were asked to select the most outstanding garment in each category and the designer of that garment was presented with a Special Award. In addition, Special Awards for Best Fit, Best Use of Color, Most Creative use of Fabric and Most Creative Design are designated by the judges from all entries in the Show. These Awards carry the same distinction in the custom clothing industry that the Academy Awards do in the entertainment industry.
CTDA is a non-profit organization which is dedicated to providing ongoing education for custom tailors and custom clothiers and to promoting the custom clothing industry in general. It was founded in 1880 by a group of tailors who sought a channel for the sharing of skills and expertise within the profession of Master Tailor. The annual CTDA Convention brings together the finest tailors and custom clothiers in the world. The clients of CTDA members include the top echelon of executives, public figures, entertainers, and others who seek sartorial excellence.
