PRESIDENTIAL STYLE
Header
Barack Obama is returning sartorial style to the White House.  Some say his understated wardrobe elegance was last evident when Ronald and Nancy Reagan resided there.  Others point even further back in time, drawing comparisons to the trendsetting wardrobes of John F. and Jackie Kennedy when they occupied 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.  Regardless of political persuasion, it's easy to agree that President-Elect Obama's custom tailored suits set a presidential tone and standard befitting this nation's highest office.

While President-elect Obama's wardrobe is understatedly chic in dark gray or blue suits, his presidential style has garnered plenty of attention from late-night talk show hosts, to multiple covers of Men's Vogue and an endorsement from Esquire Magazine.

Obama is certainly on-trend with the current influence in men's style.  With the movement to trimmer fitting clothes, narrower lapels, and shorter jackets inspired by the 60's, it's easy to see why Obama-Kennedy comparisons are so prevalent.

Conservative, perfectly dimpled neckties, crisp white shirts and cleanly tailored, slim-fit suits are low-key and classic.  Combined with Obama's youthful, athletic build and the silhouette of the classic power suit reemerges.  Such style, especially custom tailored, is appropriate for any well-dressed man, whether you're in a boutique law firm, a multinational corporation or the leader of the free world.

The Tie Score

Your tie, more than any other aspect of your appearance, will determine how other people view your status, credibility, personality and ability.  Invest in the very finest neckwear you can to separate yourself from the rest of the pack.

Classic gentlemen's neckties turn to a trim, slightly narrower shape.  This evolving shape is not drastic, but updated.  To complement the modern luxury ties' narrower width, tie designs remain subtle and understated, reminiscent of the 1930s and 1960's English classics.

Some collections take inspiration from17th century tapestries.   Note the dark jewel tones as well as brighter influences in rich tones and vibrant accents principally in unfettered paisleys and geometric patterns.   Similar colorations are crafted in regimental stripes, and in small, graphic jacquards.
